random nights are…
the best! last night p and i set out for a gallery opening in chealsea as a meet up with some friends. turned out the friends were tired, which was totally ok, and p and i took a short gander at the artwork. it was an installation of handmade porcelain sunflower seeds in a large mass. my description does absolutely no justice to the artwork but that is the gist of it.
due to it being amazing out, we decided to walk the highline. the highline is a newer park/walkway that was made from an outdoor subway tracks. it is stunning and i recommend all nycer’s take a mosey on this at least once, preferably on an amazing winter night at 60 degrees.
at the end of the walkway and off the path a bit is the standard hotel. the standard is all things posh and high class that nyc represents. prescott in his normal easy class way was certain that we should have a cocktail or two on their 18th floor bar.

picture this at nighttime with RIDCULOUSLY BEAUTIFUL views all around you, with a great little soul band and fancy drink in your hand. needless to say one of the most special, high class, and obscure moments so far in my 26 years. (oh, and if you ever happen to go here, you HAVE to go to the restroom. ummm, it, how do i say this, is your own private little room and the, ummm, toilet faces the giant window view of the city, you then wash your hands in a black and gold sink…. uh what!)
being a bit ditsy after our drinks and moment of feeling posh we were hungry. stopped to get literally the best pizza in the city to go (come on lombardi’s is not a discussion it just is the best) and went on home for our usual evening of dinner an a show to watch ‘downtown abbey’.
fell asleep happy and excited by my unpredictable saturday evening.
